Full gut renovation of an 800-square-foot, 3 bedroom condo in Boston’s North End.
This small condo is located in an old industrial building that was converted to residential use in the early 1900’s. The original floor plan included three mid-sized bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The client initially wanted to convert the condo into a two-bedroom unit, but due to the work-from-home challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it was decided to maintain three.
The reimagined floor plan reconfigures the bathroom and reduces the size of the bedrooms in order to carve space for a kitchen, living room, and dining nook. The design was streamlined and clean, with minimalist tendencies. We introduced industrial echoes, such as exposed brick, concrete, and iron in order to reference the building’s industrial past.
